"The area in northeast Alabama where I grew up and where most of these images were made is one of the most beautiful and violent places I know. Rolling hills creeping down from the lower Appalachians, with small rivers and creeks winding through the pastures and farmlands that dot the valley. Every time I return for a visit a little more of its beauty is taken away."
